How do I enter my registration code into WinDates? |

To enter your registration name and code, select the
"Register!" menu item. A window will be displayed giving shareware details.
Select the "Register" button at the bottom of this window. A window will be
displayed where you may enter your registration name and number. Be sure to
enter then exactly as shown. The name is case sensitive. |

I have an older version of WinDates. Can I
upgrade to the latest version? |

You can download the latest version of WinDates from
http://www.rockinsoftware.com/dl_WinDates.aspx and install it. It
will recognize your existing installation of WinDates and upgrade it to the new
version. Your existing registration and events will be recognized by the new
version. |

How do I get WinDates to start automatically when
Windows starts? |

The WinDates installation program sets up WinDates to
run upon Windows startup. You can rerun the installation program to reset the
program to startup automatically. The latest version of WinDates may be
downloaded from http://www.rockinsoftware.com/dl_WinDates.aspx

No. WinDates contains utilizes various 3rd party
software libraries that cannot be released as open source. |

How can I move WinDates to a new computer? |
| A: |
Record your registration name and number from your old computer (select the
"register" menu item).
Download the latest version of WinDates from
http://www.windates.com/dl_windates.aspx and install on the new computer.
Enter your registration name and number into the new copy of WinDates to
register it. Your events are stored in an event file (probably events.wdt).
Copy all .wdt files from the WinDates directory on the old computer to the
WinDates directory on the new computer. Then use the "Calendar | Open" menu
item on the new computer to open your file.

How do I backup or move the WinDates option settings
such as event type colors? |

Here are instructions for exporting / importing WinDates settings.
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems
that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Rockin' Software
cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry
Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk
WinDates settings are stored in the Windows registry and may be exported using
the Windows Registry Editor. Select "Start | Run" and enter "RegEdit.exe" to
run the program. Navigate the tree view and select the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Rockin' Software\WinDates
Select the "Registry | Export Registry File.." menu item. Be sure the "Export
Range" is set to the selected branch listed above. Enter a filename to save the
settings to and select Save.
To import the settings, copy the file to the destination computer and simply
double click the file in Windows Explorer.

I have backed up my calendar file but cannot get it
to restore. |

You can manually restore your backup using the following steps.

Exit WinDates.

Copy your backup file (*.wdb) from your backup floppy/directory into your
WinDates directory.

Rename the file to have a .wdt extension. Note: To do this, you may have to
reset your folder options to not hide extensions. To do this, open Windows
Explorer and select the "Tools | Folder Options". On the "View" tab, uncheck
the "Hide extensions for known file types".

Restart WinDates. (You may need to open the file using "Calendar | Open").

All my events are showing up twice. How do I
fix this? |

Most likely your calendar file is open twice. Close
one copy using the "Calendar | Close" menu item. |

How can I setup a bi-weekly event? |
| A: |
Start a new event and select the Weekly frequency. A
field will appear that will allow you to specify the number of weeks between
events. Set this to 2 and you have a bi-weekly event. |

How do I setup a recurring event like the 3rd Monday
of each month? |
| A: |
Advanced recurring events may be setup through the
event edit window. Select a frequency of monthly and then select the "Monthly -
Advanced" button that appears. Here you will find settings for what day of week
or month of year you would like the event to occur on. This allows you to setup
events such as "3rd Monday of each Month" or "Last Sunday in September". |

I am recieving "File error 26" or "File Error 4" when
trying to save events. |

Your calendar file is corrupted. Follow these steps to rebuild your
calendar file.

Close your existing event file using the "Calendar | Close" menu item. Make
note of the file name.

Start a new file using the "Calendar | New" menu item (be sure to give the file
a new name).

Import events from the original file into the new file. Select "Calendar |
Import" and select the "WinDates Event File" option. Specify you original event
file.
