Should You Switch to Trumba?
While Trumba Calendar is a great service, it may not make sense for you to
switch to Trumba. The biggest consideration is the fact that Trumba is an
on-line calendar so you must be connected to the Internet to access it.
If you do not have reliable access to the Internet, it probably doesn't make
sense to switch. You may continue to use your registered copy of WinDates
as long as you like.
However, if you do have reliable Internet access, Trumba Calendar may be a great
choice for you. You can choose to completely switch to Trumba or you can
continue using WinDates in conjunction with Trumba by using the WinDates
publish feature to publish your calendar to Trumba.
You should consider using Trumba Calendar if you want to...
-
publish your calendar to the Internet.
-
embed a calendar in your web site.
-
automatically email reminders and calendar updates to others.
-
synchronize calendars with Microsoft Outlook.
-
access your calendar from home, work or on the road.
-
share calendars with others.
-
use WinDates to publish calendars to the Internet.
-
have reminders sent to you and others via email or SMS text message.
You should probably not switch to Trumba if you...
-
just want to keep track of holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc on your home
computer and don't need to share events with others.
-
need birthday age calculation.
-
need event reminders to be available without email or SMS text messaging.
How to Transfer Your Calendars to Trumba
You have two options for transferring your calendars from WinDates to Trumba.
Option 1: Completely Switch to Trumba Calendar
To completely switch to Trumba, export your calendar(s) from WinDates in
iCalendar format using the "Calendar | Export" menu item. For each
calendar, create a new Trumba calendar, set the desired calendar time
zone and then import into the calendar using the "Import calendar events"
link under the Calendar Tasks list. See the
Import Help Topic for more details on importing events into Trumba.
Important: Please read the WinDates Data Not
Imported into Trumba section below.
Option 2: Use WinDates to Publish Your Calendar to Trumba Calendar
You can continue to use WinDates to enter events and then use the publish
function to publish the calendar to Trumba for shared access. Prior to
publishing your calendar, you must first sign in to Trumba, create a calendar
and assign a unique "web name" for the calendar. Then follow the steps
below to publish the calendar from WinDates to Trumba.

See Subscribe
and publish from iCal to Trumba for more information on Trumba
iCalendar publish support.
Warning: If you plan to maintain your calendar in
WinDates and republish changes, edit your calendar through WinDates and do not
use the WinDates Refresh option. Since not all WinDates data is
maintained by Trumba, the refresh option may cause WinDates specific data to be
lost.
